PAPER REVISIONS (some common issues to consider as you revise):
Language:
1. Spelling / Typos (This is an easy fix, guys. Don't get a lower grade because of something so silly and easy to fix!)
2. Grammar
Subject-Verb agreement
Syntactical error (fragments, run-ons, funky working)
3. Punctuation
Commas, semi-colons (;), colons (:), periods (.)… (If you couldn't tell me when it's right to use any one of these punctuation marks, either avoid using it, or figure out how to use it correctly. I'll try to give some examples in blog posts tomorrow and over the weekend.)
4. Mechanics of quotation
Block quotes (no quotation marks) / In-text quotations (use quotations marks)
5. Paragraph identification (See paragraph structure below.)
Stucture:
1. Introduction → Body → Conclusion
2. Paragraph Structure
A. Intro Structure
a. Topic Sentence (Is it arguable? Can I disagree?)
b. Summary (2-3 Sentence – Avoid unnecessary details. Ask, why am I including this? Does it serve the purposes of my paper?)
c. Commentary
d. Concluding Sentence /Thesis
PARAGRAPH ELEMENTS...TAKE NOTE.
**Examples
(Are they introduced? Do you have any? Block Quote? Paragraph w/ question? Details from the story? Are the examples substantial enough?)
**Commentary
(Does the commentary explain how the example develops the idea in your topic sentence?)
**Concluding Sentence
(Does it lead to the next paragraph?)
*Concluding PARAGRAPH
(Does it tie your argument/claim to the experience of your readers?)
