In the clip from Gladiator the director Ridley Scott used the set to its maximum potential. He also uses a lot of close up shots in order to let the viewers see the facial expression on the various actors faces. He then uses a long shot at the end to show effect of the crowd and include them in the scene. Both of these shots allowed you to focus on the principal actors of the movie. The best principal actor of this scene is Maximus Decimus played by Russell Crowe because he used his body language effectively express that he won’t back down from anything.
Music and sound was the most important part of this scene. In this case it set the tone throughout the whole scene. The louder the music got the more intense the scene became. The crowd noise also got louder and louder to lead to the climax when they are cheering at full capacity.
